Cannabis advocate, Professor Mike Barnes, will also be making an appearance. As a highly experienced consultant neurologist and consultant in rehabilitation medicine, Professor Barnes has been dedicated to the development of neurological rehabilitation.
He has been interested in the medical application of cannabis since his involvement with GW Pharma in the early 2000s, and the progression of Sativex to the market. He signed off the expert report to the MHRA and this report has been used, with more recent evidence, to establish Sativex now in over 30 countries.
In addition to this, he was asked to write a report on the evidence for medicinal cannabis, which was published in September 2016. Since then, this report has been influential in progressing the medical cannabis debate in the UK, Channel Islands and Ireland.
